I returned to work yesterday after attending the 5 day American Association of Orthodontists Annual meeting in Philadelphia. I was honored to be asked to give a presentation to the General Session on digital orthodontics, which was very well received. The talk discussed Insignia technology and how digital orthodontics (using computers to construct cases) relates to traditional orthodontic treatment. Many questions were asked after the lecture…a good sign that people understood what was presented.
The big “buzz” of the meeting was the introduction of “LYTHOS”…Ormco’s digital scanner. We are on the list to get one of the first ones made and it will be in our office by the fall of 2013. LYTHOS will allow us to take digital impressions…impressions of teeth WITHOUT the messy impression paste. It will truly mark a new era in orthodontics!!
I’m off to New York this weekend for Mother’s Day…then off the California and Europe by the end of next week. Lots of excitement on the horizon.
